Know About Your Health From Nature of Your Periods.

Must read

Sometimes, you need to notice some subtle shifts and changes like the irregularity in flow, unbearable cramps, to know about the disparities demanding to be addressed.

Almost every woman on this planet hates periods, but when those come late, or there is an anomaly, they get even more paranoid. And this is justified by the fact that missing the monthly cycle indicates some problem or disease. However, instead of getting paranoid, you need to notice these changes and keep a note of them to list out the possible reasons.

Some of the most common symptoms are immense cramping, extreme mood swings, etc. Noting them down and listing the reasons might be difficult but it’s not impossible. Check out the article below to know more how you can predict about your health from your periods.

1. Heavy Flow

By heavy, we are referring to the fact that pads need to be changed at least 4 to 5 times a day. However, if you have heavy bleeding regularly, that can be a symptom of endometriosis, polyps or even tumor which can have an adverse effect on your fertility.

According to Dr. Mary Jane Minkin from Yale School of Medicine, this is a common phenomenon as we grow older, and is more frequent in women from Africa and Asia. In case your blood release daily is more than one cup, then it can be due to a rare disease called Von Willebrand disease, which disrupts the clotting ability of the blood.

2. Super Light

This is common if you are on birth control pills. But if that’s not true, then you might be suffering from hormonal imbalance. Dr. Adelaide Nardone from Brown University says that the problem is more likely to be associated with the thyroid or the pituitary gland. The Mullerian anomaly is rare but is also a possibility, which results from a malformed hymen, which prevents normal blood flow. Autoimmune disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are also associated with light flow at times.

3. Surprise Bleeding

Surprise bleeding or breakthrough bleeding means any deviation from your normal cycle. This can be due to a lot of factors – the most common one being you are on birth control pills. But if that is not the case, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible, since it can be attributed to cervical or uterine polyps, which causes accumulation of too much estrogen in the body. Fibroids or other infections can also be the issue. In rare cases, cancer can also be the problem.

5. Late Periods

Well, pregnancy is a reason for late periods so if that is the case for you, then congratulations. However, if that possibility is nil, then you need to be aware of certain stuff.

According to doctors, you might have PCOS, or you are not ovulating regularly, which disrupts your routine. Also, another thing to consider is body fat, if you have too much or too less body fat, that can create an imbalance. If that is true for you, you need to change your lifestyle.

If you are obese, you also need to go to a doctor and check if you have Diabetes, since that can affect the ovaries. Hence, it is best to consult a doctor if you have late periods.
