Meat available in supermarkets contains toxic arsenic for several years now. The FDA report showed that inorganic arsenic was found in the livers of more than 50% of the chickens tested. Arsenic is one of the most toxic chemicals, and is known to cause cancer.

In 2016, a report, Playing Chicken, was released by the IATP, according to which approximately 70% chickens were given feed with arsenic. It helps in faster growth which also reduced the cost of feed. The chickens also turn more pink and fatter.

Pfizer was compelled by the authorities to stop their production of Roxars one after this findings. This drug was a primary source of arsenic, and was added to the feed of the chickens, to make them grow faster, and make their meat pinker.

Another finding by the FDA was published by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) where it is written how the drug company continue to delay the pulling of the drug.
The study was performed on approximately hundred broiler chickens. These chickens were treated with 3-Nitro and hence they had inorganic arsenic in excess levels in their livers. However, those chickens which were not treated with that drug were completely free of arsenic.

Pfizer was quick to respond after this incident and claimed that they will no longer allow the sale of the drug after July. In that case, chicken producers have to look for other types of treatment.
